i came around after dark, you were nothing but a lark

What I looked like going to work and leaving work.
Why, yes, I am a SJ Sharks fan~!

1-ct. cz 14K yellow gold ring with 14K white gold prongs. I bought this in 1998 from the website for Shop At Home. At the time, that was the only channel that offered realistic-looking fake diamond rings that had 14K gold settings.

This cowgirl bracelet was purchased at the Classic Hardware booth at a craft fair in SF in November 2007.

trousers

I only have one pair of slacks in my work outfit wardrobe. That's kinda sad, but, then again, I love skirts way more.

teal and kiwi green glass beads. I made these bracelets in 2002, back when my pliers skills sucked.

I don't wear these flats often, but I do like the stitching detail and the metal.

keep holding my hand, so we don't get separated

This Liz Claiborne cardigan is the hottest pink in all the land. And, yes, I am a sucker for pink sweaters.

Also on display are my newly created necklace and bracelet. I took two bags of mixed beads, mixed them together, and strung them all up.

steak-frites

This afternoon, I got to hang out with my friend and former SJSU classmate, Kim. :) We had lunch at White Shallot, a French-Vietnamese restaurant. And the rest of the day was a blur: BevMo, Santana Row, DSW, Loehmann's, and Trader Joe's. We ended the night by having dinner while watching Wall-E on dvd.

I wore a hoody even though we did a lot of walking around in the heat because I'm cool like that.

hoody: Roots Canada.....tanktop: Nordstrom Rack.....jeans: Bitten, Steve & Barry's
belt: Mervyn's.....Etnies sneakers: PacSun.....necklace: Tiffany & Co.

This hoody is my favourite souvenir from a trip to Toronto.

you got me feeling hella good, so let's just keep on dancing

Today was the first time I went on a jog since May. Whoa, what a lapse!

The most important thing I had to keep reminding myself is to start small, especially when it comes to getting back into a routine. I was intent on jogging 2 miles but swiftly had to put the kibosh on that as soon as I actually started jogging. So, I jogged 1.38 miles, then I walked the rest.

What I looked like after the jog.
What I felt like after the jog. Just kidding!

And yes, I saw No Doubt yesterday at Shoreline in Mountain View. Such an awesome show! It is one of the best shows I've ever been to! I've always liked No Doubt, ever since buying their Tragic Kingdom cd back in 1995. But after finally seeing them live, I looove them now!

We sat Row W in the upper level, which is really far from the stage. This pic is the best I could do with my little camera, but whatever, it was all about the music.

The only downers for the night were: 1. The Sounds had a really short set, so they only played 1 song from their first (and their best) album, and 2. Paramore was boring.

Okay, I lied. It wasn't just about the music. It was about the experience. The new footage that played behind No Doubt during the show was awesome. Gwen did push-ups right before "Just A Girl", whatever, that show-off! We were on our feet the entire time because the energy was so contagious. No Doubt looked like they really enjoyed being there! :)

i'm just a girl in the world

I'll be seeing No Doubt at Shoreline Amphitheatre a bit later tonight. Yay!

I wrapped a red beaded choker twice around my wrist. It was a gift I received from Brian's mom in 1996.
I threw in the green bracelet for the heck of it. I made the bracelet back in 2002.

These brown leather boots were a lucky purchase. Bakers Shoes in SF marked these down to a mere $15.99. They were the last pair in stock, and they just happened to fit.

July 24, 2009 outfit

Today was a baggy sweater kind of day at work.

For some reason, a lot of clients at work complimented me for this outfit. So random.

cardigan: Nordstrom.....top: Target.....skirt: Ross.....shoes: Aerosoles
necklace: Tiffany & Co. .....right-hand ring: "rose" ring, Tiffany & Co.

This ginormous Elsa Peretti "bean" necklace was purchased from tiffany.com back in 2003. <3

1 pink cardi, 2 pairs of shoes

I love my ridiculously pink cardigan. I bought it at a London H&M back in 2005 while hanging out with my friend Laura. Who woulda thought that a California chick like me would finally meet a Finnish lady like Laura in England?? It was fate! It had to be!

Inside Shoes
Best pair of cheap-o shoes, ever.

Outside Shoes
Worn-out, yet trusty.

cardigan: H&M.....tanktop: H&M.....skirt: Torrid
Mary Janes: Wal-Mart.....Skull Vans: PacSun.....right-hand ring: hsn.com

This is from the Xavier line of silver and cz jewelry on HSN, and this style is called "Belle Epoque."

keep, donate, toss

For the past few days, I've been cleaning out my closet. So far, I've filled up 7 garbage bags with clothes. As my coworker Maria had remarked yesterday: cleaning is very therapeutic.

The combination of the closet purge and this outfit blog has made me appreciate the clothes and accessories I did choose to keep.

top: Ross.....skirt: Bitten, Steve & Barry's.....shoes: Aerosoles

I think I bought this necklace way back in 1998.

welcome to the sixties. oh, oh, oh, oh....

In last Friday's SJ Merc, there was an article about the current crop of Emmy nominations. Featured in this article was a photo of the cast of Mad Men. In this photo, the women have their arms crossed.

I don't even watch that show, but I loved how Christina Hendricks and Elisabeth Moss looked in that photo.

So, this first shot was inspired by that cast photo.

The combination of this snug sweater and this particular grey skirt made me look curvier than usual. An outrageously huge updo would have most definitely completed the look.

cardigan: BP, Nordstrom.....tanktop: H&M.....skirt: Bitten by SJP, Steve & Barry's
shoes: Payless.....necklace: Cathie Filian on etsy
right-hand ring: Hope Faith Miracles, hsn.com

I still can't get over how this pendant is diy because it is so, je ne sais pas, clean? But then again, I shouldn't be surprised since it was made by Cathie Filian. I love her show, Creative Juice.

This brushed silver concave ring was definitely worth getting from hsn.com. I adore the simple design, and it fits right. The creator of this line was Kristian Alfonso, who plays "Hope" on Days Of Our Lives. Unfortunately, this line was discontinued.

Monday, Monday

"Sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays." - 'Office Space'

Yesterday was a heavy-duty day at Chez VDB. I cooked. I cleaned out my closet. I had a glass or two of Rex-Goliath merlot along the way.

So, today, I really lagged in getting ready for work this morning. The outfit is the usual, but I was super-excited about wearing two pieces of jewelry that were given to me by my friend Alannah.

pullover: H&M.....skirt: Ross.....shoes: Payless
handbag: Dooney & Bourke.....bracelet: a gift from Alannah
right-hand ring: a gift from Alannah

I've been told by several chicas that this little satchel is too small to deal. For me, it's the contrary! I can fit my cellphone, wallet, passport, iPod Classic, iPod Nano, lip balm, keys, work keys, and a 3 oz bottle of Lather lotion in this tiny wonder.

It's Hello Kitty!

This ring is plastic, and it rocks!

Alannah has the bestest taste!
