I'm waiting and fading and floating away.

I stepped out of my comfort zone a little bit by not pairing the usual black shoes with my mostly black outfit.

This photo was taken by my coworker Maria right after we got off work. I look so friggen tired and drained because I really was friggen tired and drained. Going to bed at 2am and waking up five hours later can do that to a person. I was so out of it that I couldn't even stand up straight.

I bought these flats because they weren't black and because they were $12.99.

The embroidery on this skirt is lovely.

Maria and I then went off to Sear's at the nearby mall for a little retail therapy. There was plenty of fitting room time, and we both bought sandals that were on clearance for $2.98.

I tried on a teal ruffled sleeveless top and a shiny polyester skirt with my trusty cardi. I liked the outfit but wasn't jazzed enough to buy the pieces. Yep, I was tired all right.

Oh, before I forget...

Even though Roger hates my guts, he kindly posed for a pic.

He's such the prima donna.

it's so deep, it's so wide, you're inside.

The office centre was super-dead today. Apparently, most of the clients thought that Labor Day weekend was a four-day weekend. Whatever.

Self-pic at the front desk.

I wore my basic outfit of a sweater and a black skirt. But I left the cardi unbuttoned to show off the top. Yeah, the top. ;)

Oh, did I mention that Brian's the one who takes my outfit pics if the pics are obviously not on my apartment balcony? As much as I think I'm crafty and clever with the tripod and camera self-timer on my porch, it's just wayyy better to have him take the location shots.

Oh, won't you come, come, come into my world?

Thank goodness, it's Friday!

Roger the emo turkey.

What I bought at FYE right after work~!! YEAHH!!

My workday went by fast because I was so excited to hang out with my friends Kim and Doug back in the South Bay.

We met up to do some random stuff. One thing we did was go on a tour of Doug's awesome workplace. Building B had a gallery upstairs that showcased his colleagues' art pieces.

Baby, hold on to me. Whatever will be will be.

So, let's talk about my new, random-as-all-get-out header/banner.

Early Saturday morning, after three hours of sleep, I decided I needed to personalise this here blog a bit. I print-screened the original layout, cropped it to just the part I needed, and, using my college education intermediate Adobe Photoshop 7 skills, I put in a couple of turkeys and outlined them. The photo used was one I had taken of two turkeys hanging outside the office building back in November 2007.

Right now, the current turkey muse is Roger, aka Henry, the lone tom who lives outside the building.

And, oh, here's what I looked like today.

top: Ross.....pants: Wal-Mart.....shoes: Aerosoles
bracelets & right-hand ring: silverjewelryclub.com.....necklace: eBay

I'm all about combining different textures, as is the case with these silver bracelets.

Blue topaz and peridot silver ring.

Tiffany-inspired heart necklace purchased off eBay in 2002.
I think it was less than $15.00.

As much as I like the heat, I knew it would be totally stupid to go on my lunchtime 30-minute walk outdoors in 92-degree weather. So, I spent half of my lunchbreak on the treadmill in the air-conditioned workout room. The music of the Go-Go's kept me company.

I had an excuse to go to the mall right after work: I needed to buy a ticket for a Yeah Yeah Yeahs show. (Seriously, if that's not an awesome excuse, I don't know what is!) After buying the ticket at FYE, I browsed through H&M, Sears, JC Penney, and Nordstrom, but, sadly, I came out empty-handed. Ah, boo.

I think I'll hit up Kohls tomorrow after work.

July 31, 2009 outfit

This is 'Roger', the tom who got kicked out of the roost because he couldn't compete with the alpha-males. We also call him 'Henry'. Animal Control Services said he'll go home when m-season is over.
He doesn't like it when I follow him to take pics.

This is me, all happy that I'm at mon amie Rachel's house. The drive to Sacratomato was all right. It only took me 90 minutes in the commuter traffic.

It's a crystal-encrusted, 18K gold-filled pendant on an 18K gold-filled chain. My favourite detail is the Classical Greek profile, which is carved into a mirror. My mom bought this for me in 1991, while we were visiting relatives in the Philippines.

Rachel and I chilled out that Friday night. We played 'Rock Band' and 'Guitar Hero' with her husband and her downstairs neighbour. The highlight of my singing set was scoring 100% on HARD on Pat Benatar's "Heartbreaker" on 'Rock Band'. I looooooove that song so much! I know it like the back of my hand!

the cubicle dweller in her environment

This morning, right as I walked from the parking garage to the workplace, I saw a wild turkey. And of course, it ran away from me as I followed it to take a pic.

If you look over at my profile, yes, that is also a wild turkey. I love these cool birds.

My coworker Maria kindly took these pics. Thank goodness, she understands the importance of journaling outfits.

What do you do when life leaves you four really black bananas on your kitchen counter? Make banana bread, of course!

I used the America's Test Kitchen recipe for banana bread and made them into muffins.
