smiles like the sun, kisses for everyone, and tales---it never fails

I am a sucker for soda pop, and I'm an even bigger sucker for citrus-flavoured ones. Well, Erin had to be a total enabler by posting about DRY Soda. What do you know, they have one that's kumquat-flavoured. My curiosity was sparked!

After hanging out with Maria earlier tonight, I stopped by Gene's Fine Foods in P-Town and bought a pack of four bottles. I enjoyed me a bottle of the stuff on the 36-mile drive back to SJ. This soda is delicious! I really like how it has good flavour without much sugar. 50 calories of yum!

Next time, I'm trying it with some vodka and orange juice to make a carbonated screwdriver of goodness.

Hanging out with Maria after work and doing a bit of shopping Gene's Fine Foods brought me out of the funk I was in earlier. All through our work day, there were folks installing brand new carpet in the suite across the way. The carpet glue fumes were getting sucked up into the shared ventilation, thus making us all lethargic. Bleh.

Ah, fresh air and autumn leaves!

Running. I know where you're hiding.

Random:
I'm compiling a playlist of songs I've heard at hockey games. But I'm being picky. I've heard some really random crap played at games, and I'm not including those novelty songs about hockey. You know, that one song about wanting to ride the zamboni and that other one about the Canadian who likes hockey, eh? Well, they're so not on the list!

So far, the list looks like this -
"Seek & Destroy" - Metallica - This is the song that plays whenever the Sharks make their grand entrance onto the ice by skating in through that gigantico shark head. This song is forever badass.
"New Divide" - Linkin Park but I'll listen to this song.
"Let It Rock" - Kevin Rudolf
"Uprising" - Muse
"Barracuda" - Heart

Yep, it's a short list.

Anyway, here's how I looked today.

I was so not looking forward to getting a filling at the dentist's office today, but this two-toned pink cardi brightened my mood. Pink always does.

Monday, October 12, 2009 -

I had a pain in my right side, so I left work early to hang out for four hours in urgent care. The pain went away by the time I was called in, but I did get diagnosed with a bladder infection instead. FML.

Other suckey news: Sharks lost to the Coyotes in the overtime shootout.

Yucko.

But here's what I wore through this whole mess.
(Well, I did change my outfit for the Sharks game.)

Despite my craptastic afternoon, I was able to smile in the pics. Why? Because Brian took me out for dinner at Pasta Pomodoro on The Alameda. That particular location is our favourite eatery.

Sunday, October 11 outfit - red hooded sweater

Sunday afternoon, I hung out with Maria. We had lunch at Eddie Papa's and then did some shopping at Best Buy and Target.

I was in the mood to buy dark red flats but not in the mood to buy pricey ones.
The answer: buy them on clearance at Wal-Mart.

out of reach, out of time. you always seem to be out of sight, out of mind.

Today, I'm wearing two pieces that I haven't worn in a long time. The grey skirt hasn't been worn for over a year due to weight gain. The black pullover hasn't been worn for over 4 years, and I can tell you the last time I wore it, it was baggy on me.

Oh wells. I am what I am. I'm just really glad that I now have an easier time zipping up the skirt!

let it go on to your back bone moving on through your hip bone

I really like having short hair. I can muss it up and not deal with a tangled mess afterward.

Just for kicks....
I wore this same get-up (but with different shoes) in this blog's second post, dated 7/13/09.

Make me feel like I can make it real. You got me hooked.

How about I pair my fave pullover with a skirt that isn't completely black? Why not.

I'm shaking things up just a tiny bit.

The ribbed edging of the pullover was folded under to shorten it a few inches
because I wanted to show more of the skirt.

This skirt was purchased at Black & Brown in San Jose, a place I never would have thought of going into because thrifting wasn't my thing. Well, thrifting is my thing now all because of mon amie Emily. I'll be getting in the habit of checking out that particular shop every month or so, since I live so close to it.

starlight shimmers everywhere. there's a certain something in the air.

I really like this dress, and I wish I had bought it in other colours. To change it up just a tiny bit, I wore a tanktop under it.

And, come colder weather, I'll be wearing this with tights. I can so see myself wearing this with green tights or red tights.

I still can't believe I saw Kylie in Oakland. Yeah, Oaktown!!! At the Fox Theater!, which is really small compared to the stadiums and arenas she's performed at. We Bay Area folk were truly blessed that night!

Before the show, I was only familiar with Kylie's Light Years and Fever albums and a handful of singles. Now, I'm positively hooked on X. My current favourite song is "The One," with "Like a Drug" a close second.
