it's complicated leaving things as they are

This is how I looked on Feb. 15:

sweater: Target.....tanktop: Nordstrom Rack.....skirt: Ross
socks: Target.....boots: Aerosoles
tired face: carb- and cheese-induced coma courtesy of Simply Fondue, Livermore

I love these Aerosoles boots almost as much as my "Lena" boots. These boots are so comfy, I can run down hallways in them. And I wore these boots for more than 12 hours straight. But they sure hug my calves like no other.

something in the moonlight catches my eye

This is how I looked on Feb. 9:
2-9-11-a
2-9-11-b
sweater: Loehmann's.....secret tanktop: Nordstrom Rack.....skirt: Wal-Mart
secret leggings: Target.....socks: Brian's sock drawer.....boots: "Lena" boots from Avenue.com

These "Lena" boots may possibly be the most comfortable boots I own. My feet do not hurt after being in them for more than 8 hours. The calf area is really roomy, okay, maybe a little too roomy. But I like how they can't squeeze the life out of my calves. All that room also means that I can easily tuck pants into them if I feel like it.

Plus, I really like that they're named "Lena."

3 shades of aqua

Wow. The last time I posted to my blog was Jan. 5th. Really? Really??

Anyway, this is how I looked when I got home:
2-4-11-a
teal coat: Target.....turquoise scarf: Walt Disney World.....teal scarf: Ross
handbag: Dooney & Bourke, gift from Brian

I wore two scarves not because I'm stylish, yo. This was my way of making me take them home. I have a bad habit of leaving scarves at work.

My work outfit. I dressed for comfort today.

i love it in your room at night. you're the only one who gets through to me.

Brian and I went on a crazy outing to Beverages & More on New Year's Eve. Yeah. Don't go to BevMo, or any booze warehouse store for that matter, on New Year's Eve. Just don't.

My New Year's Eve outfit was inspired by Erin @ "Work With What You've Got". She had worn a Spice Girls t-shirt with a leather jacket in this post. I figured that I had a girl-group t-shirt somewhere in my closet that could go with my leather jacket.

This is what I came up with:
12-31-10-b
12-31-10-a
Bangles t-shirt: it's a bootleg from 1988, given to me by a fellow Bangles fan back in 2001
jacket: Wilsons Leather
denim leggings: JC Penney
socks: Target.....boots: Avenue

I angled myself in these photos on purpose. My fave Bangles songs were sung by Susanna Hoffs, and I really heart Michael Steele.

We were holding back the flood.

Who had to go to Target on her lunchbreak to buy a sweater because she had spilt hummus on her black sweater? Oh, that would be me!

I almost purchased a black cardigan, but this jewel-toned purple one on the same rack caught my eye.

The more I think of you, the more I melt like ice cream.

I went shopping in my closet for another wool coat, and I found this hot pink number.

12-21-10-A
12-21-10-B
wool coat: Target.....random outfit underneath
leggings: Target.....socks: Target.....boots: Bakers Shoes
gloves: Wal-Mart.....scarf: Walt Disney World

This coat is Isaac Mizrahi for Target, and it was purchased in 2003. I was obsessed with that shade of pink, so I had to have it! Fortunately, I bought this coat on clearance. Unfortunately, I couldn't button it across my tummy. The only one left was size S. And so I wore it open for the few times I did wear it. Or I would button it only on my chest. I loved hot pink that much.

Well, needless to say, times have changed.

he's got savoir faire. you can feel it in the air.

This may be my most fave outfit for work:
12-8-10-A
12-8-10-B
sweater: Anthropologie.....dress: Tulle
socks: Target.....boots: Aerosoles

My coworker Raul kept describing this dress as "legit." I have no idea what he meant by that, but it must be good!

experiment in black. experiment in black.

The attitude I give off in the following photos required that I convert them from colour to greyscale.

Leather jacket = automatic coolness.

Also, finally finding a pair of Aerosoles boots (on super-mega-clearance, by the way) that completely zip up over my 15-inch calves = miracle.

my body rocks a rhythm. you beat my drum hard.

For the past two months, I've had the biggest urge to buy a new wool coat. I did a lot of window-shopping online, and I even checked out Macy's, Target and Burlington Coat Factory. But I couldn't find one that fit the bill.

As I was staring at my wardrobe, trying to figure out what to wear on Dec. 3, a certain coat caught my eye. A funky loud plaid jumped out at me. It was a coat that I bought on clearance for $19.95 at Charlotte Russe earlier this year. It still had the tags on it. As soon as I put this coat on, that urge to buy a new wool coat disappeared. The black, white, green, and orange patterning did me in.

So, the point of this story is this:
Shop in your closet, for crying out loud!

This is how I looked on Dec. 3:
