Oh. I'm tired. Oh. I'm wired.

It's all about the blueberry-coloured tights.
2-17-10-b

Haha. According to the link for these tights, the embroidery is supposed to go up the backs of the calves. This doesn't make sense to me because that would make the toe seam run perpendicular to my toes. Or maybe it's just my big calves skewing the tights. Oh wells!

Where I come from, there's a place called heaven.

(That's a place where all the good children go.)

This is how I looked on Feb. 15th:

sweater: Nordstrom.....top: Ross
denim leggings: A.N.A., JC Penney.....socks: Target
Sarah Connor boots: Bakers Shoes
wool coat: Zara

I bought these denim leggings specifically for my Sarah Connor boots. An added bonus is that these skinny jeans are so comfy. Seriously.

The wool coat is a random purchase from Saturday. I saw it at Zara, liked the green plaid, looked at the price tag, gasped, and hurriedly tried it on. It was marked down several times before dropping to $29.99. Crazy!

My friend Dorena and I both happened to have Monday off, so we ventured on up to Napa Valley. We had a light lunch at Hog Island Oyster Company, went to three wine tastings, and had dinner at Redd.

Theee best grilled cheese EVER @ Hog Island Oyster Co.
It's made with three cheeses:
Cowgirl Creamery mezzo secco, cave-aged gruyere, and fromage blanc.

Hold on because sweet love brightens your life.

Today, I received an early Valentine's Day present from Brian. He had flowers delivered to my work!

Below are two super-crappy cell phone pics of the flowers. I displayed them on the work table behind my desk. And check out what I had to do to make sure the flowers were not knocked over in my car from my obnoxious driving.

Here's a decent pic taken at home:

WHEE! Thank you, Brian~!

Now, onto the outfit portion of this post.

I've decided that leggings are my new tights....as long as I wear them under boots. I actually walked in wearing flats, but I thought that the flats made my outfit look wayyy too casual.

When I first started working at my current job, I was really uptight about my outfits. Blazers, blouses, skirts, and black slacks. I even wore suits. After working there for a few months, I eased in cardigans. And then I started being more lax about what I wore to work. Yep, I totally went downhill from there.

Cardigans? Who would have thought?

I currently own two pairs of tall wide calf boots. The boots pictured are the only ones I feel okay wearing to work. The other pair are my leather Sarah Connor Boots, which, unfortunately, very obviously, are not work-appropriate. So, now, I'm kinda on a mission to get a third pair of tall wide calf boots. I've been looking at Jessica London Online, Zappos, and WideWidths.com. We'll see...

I'm in a funk. I'm in deep.

I punched up a drab work outfit by wearing the brightest tights in my collection.

02-05-10-a

Dark grey sweater. Light grey top. Black skirt. BAM!, magenta tights! Black shoes.

02-05-10-b

I have been obsessed with this leather jacket this past week. It's at least six years old, and it's a shame I didn't wear it much when I first got it. But that's the beauty of leather -- it just lasts. It will hold up until you feel ready to wear it and will still hold up after you get tired of it. The two things I really love about this particular jacket is that the leather is soft and the shape is very flattering...even if I'm not able to zip it up comfortably right now.

Where is that moonlight trail that leads to your side?

This is how I looked on February 1st:
02-01-10

I had a doctor's appointment that morning, so I wore a big hoody, a tanktop, leggings, socks, and sneakers. Basically, I looked like I was going on a jog. Ah, how I miss going on jogs. But I didn't. Comfy clothes.

Thank goodness, I was able to make it home right after the appointment. So, off with the hoody and sneakers. On with a dress, baggy sweater, and boots. Yep, comfy clothes.

Yes, I wore leggings to work again! I spent the weekend before in Vegas, and the flight home worked quite a number on me. Plus, my abdomen hurt from having had an ultrasound to check for gallstones. I needed to be comfy!

Maybe I'm an open book because I know you're mine.

This is how I looked on Saturday:
01-30-10-a
01-30-10-b
jacket: Wilson's Leather, a gift from Brian's mom.....dress: Charlotte Russe
tights: JC Penney.....booties: Payless

01-30-10-d
A close-up of the dress fabric. I bought this dress with the sole purpose of wearing it with my leather jacket. (Cough, Erin, cough, you inspired this!) I'm still surprised that a dress from Charlotte Russe actually fits me.

01-30-10-c
I wore bright purple tights with this dress. Totally random choice. I wasn't in the mood for my usual black tights.

What was the occasion? I celebrated my birthday in Las Vegas with Brian. And we went to Las Vegas for one reason: Sheena Easton. Omigah, I love her!! Seeing her live made my birthday so awesome.

I was too young to see Sheena when she first came out with her big hits. Obviously, I was way too young because I used to think "Sugar Walls" was about Hansel and Gretel and a house that was really made of sugar. Then, randomly in late 2009, I got really into her. I got all of her albums and was completely hooked! So, seeing Sheena at a show in Vegas was like making up for lost time.

Confession time: I totally cried when Sheena sang "For Your Eyes Only." It was pure magic.

By the way, I turned 32. :)

By the way, she did perform "Sugar Walls", and hearing those high notes live sent chills up and down my spine.

It must seem like some crazy dream that you're living through.

This is how I looked on December 28, for my doctor's appointment:
01-28-10-a

I called in sick on Wednesday and, other than the GemsTV spurts, I basically spent the day passed out the couch.

Because I'm a hypochondriac, I went to see my personal care physician at Kaiser on Thursday. She said I just needed to take ibuprofen for the migraines and Claritin for the sinuses. And she scheduled me for an ultra-sound to check for gall stones.

It was such a relief to know that I don't have meningitis or Reye's Syndrome. Yeah, I shouldn't self-diagnose the heck out of myself.

I wore baggy comfy clothes to my doctor's appointment.

The original plan was for me to go home right after the appointment and change into another outfit. That all changed when I got stuck in traffic and saw how horribly backed-up my exit off the freeway was.

So, I went to work as is, except I changed out of flats into boots to hide the leggings.

Yes, I wore leggings to work, and I LOVED IT.

01-28-10-b

For those not in the know, I keep several pairs of shoes in my car. Two pairs of flats for driving stick shift, a pair of pumps, a pair of boots, and a pair of booties.

sweater: H&M.....top: Kohls.....skirt: Ross
leggings: Target.....knee-highs worn under leggings: Target
flats: Payless
wide-calf boots: Payless

Because I have grown accustomed to wearing tights, I cannot stand having bare feet in shoes. So knee-highs if I wear pants.

Don't send flowers --- just give me some hours.

Last week, I received two rings. Both smoky quartz. Both size 7.

01-23-10-a

Let's start with the big bauble that's on the right side. A 15-ct Portuguese-cut round set in a crown of silver.
01-23-10-d
I purchased this on GemsTV for the GTFO price of $22.00. YES! $22.00! This was the first purchase I've made from that network, and it was a ring I saw on-air.
01-23-10-e
Because this ring was being sent UPS, I had it shipped to work. When I opened the package, I couldn't believe that the ring was so huge and that it was only $22.00. One of the awesome tenants at work saw me mesmerized by my ring, and she came up to me and said, "So, you like smoky quartz? I have a crap ring that I don't wear any more. Do you want it?" My response: SURE!

A few days later, she brought it in and gave it to me.

This is the "crap" ring.
01-23-10-c
What? She thinks of this as "crap"? Yeah, seriously! She was so relieved to give it to me because she's only worn it once.
01-23-10-b
Going from the description of the pendant-version of this on Zales.com, the cushion-cut stone is 10mm. I'm guessing that's about 3 to 4 carats. The accent stones are white topaz, and it's set in 10K gold.

The rings slide off my thumb, so I'm getting them resized. The silver ring was sent to the GemsTV resizing department, and the gold ring was added to a bunch of rings I've been meaning to take to a mall jeweler.

I still can't get over how lucky I was last week!
