i fell in love with the sweet sensation

This is how I looked the evening of May 29:

dress: H&M.....slip: Target
mini-socks: Payless.....shoes: DSW

Brian and I dressed up for dinner at Shades Restaurant & Bar. We were in the bar that afternoon to watch game one of the Stanley Cup Finals. The hostess recognized us when we checked in for our reservation, and she commented on how different we looked from earlier.

(For me, a getaway/trip/vacation has to have at least one day where casual is worn in the afternoon and formal is worn for dinner. One has to have a small break from all-casual, yo.)

These shoes were purchased from Maria, who was going to return them to DSW because they squeezed her toes. When she first bought them, I didn't really like them. In fact, I thought they were old lady-ish. But for some reason, I changed my mind about the patent-toes and the goldtone-tipped bows.

t-shirt: Chicago Cubs store.....skirt: NY & Co.
socks: Target.....boots: Bakers Shoes
hat: Eugenia Kim for Target.....handbag: Dooney & Bourke

The weather was awesome, albeit a lot windy. In a sea of people dressed properly for the beach, here I am in boots and a black skirt. That's just my style, yo.

For lunch, Brian and I walked over to the Huntington Beach Pier to eat at Ruby's Diner. The kobe sliders were good, but I really really really liked the veggie tacos sans cheese.

Brian and I left for Huntington Beach on Friday night. Because we were driving down, I needed to wear a comfy outfit. Baggy sweater, leggings, and boots? It couldn't be any comfier than that!

i'm love tornado struck. i don't know what to do.

Today marked the debut of this coat. It had been sitting in my closet, still with tags, since February 2007. What a shame! Seriously!

At work, I got so many compliments on this coat, that I didn't bother taking it off.

It's oh so retro!

That's okay. I felt a bit overdressed in this black sheath anyway.

Detail shot of the coat.
I quite like the white piping between the fabric and the lining.

And why not? A close-up of me the dress collar.

Latest pop addiction: Katie Melua - "The Flood"

This song is just really random, and that's why I'm hooked.

I can't wait for her new album to come out.

sweater: Nordstrom.....secret tanktop: H&M.....skirt: Ross
tights: Kohls.....shoes: DSW

The hives have cleared up on my legs, but, because of the foul weather lately, I'm still wearing tights. It rained like crazy today.

There will be more pics of me standing next to this bookshelf because it's new and because I just think it's grand. It's the "Billy" shelf from Ikea.

One of the few skirts in my possession that isn't solid black.

I am such the bargain shopper. The sweater was on sale at Macy's. The skirt was scored for $7.00 at Ross. The shoes were in the clearance section at DSW. And I can't say enough about Kohls whenever tights are marked down.

Saturday, May 15, Maria and I went to see Chayanne at the HP Pavilion, aka The Shark Tank. There were no openers, it was just Chayanne for two hours straight. Even though I didn't understand a single word of Spanish, I enjoyed it! Wait, I lied. I understood "corazón," "amor" y "tu." It was Maria's suggestion for us to go this show, and I'm so happy we did.

Chayanne is a beautiful, beautiful man. And, ugh, I forgot to bring my camera to the show. I kinda heard of him by accident, before Maria lent me a Chayanne cd. He wrote and sang the theme song to my current fave telenovela, Corazón Salvaje.

Maria and I wore comfy shoes, and we were the most covered up chicas in attendance. And no joke, I was probably the only Asian at the concert.

My fave Chayanne songs:

"Me Enamoré De Ti" - the theme song to Corazón Salvaje

"Torero"

sweater: Loehmann's.....dress: JC Penney
tights: Loehmann's.....Steve Madden shoes: DSW

The top half of this dress may never see the light of day because it's a few inches too loose on top. Or I'm just too flat-chested for it. Or something. That's fine by me. I only spent $14 on this clearance-rack dress, and I liked it only because of the hot pink and white flowers. So, I guess that makes this dress a "faux-skirt"?
