so i dream of things like your golden wings
I look very matronly in this outfit.
The only other time I wore this skirt, I paired it with a snug sweater, and it just looked right.
Oh well, back to the drawing board, but, at least, today's outfit was comfy.

i'm fierce, and i'm feeling mighty. i'm a golden girl, i'm aphrodite.
This was an easy outfit for me to plan out the night before. A dainty black dress and a bright sweater.
Ta-da!
Ta-da!
sweater: Target.....dress: Jovovich-Hawk for Target
mini-socks: Payless.....shoes: DSW
I've been doing a lot of shopping in my closet. Being a hoarder, I have kept clothes even though they didn't fit. Well, those clothes fit now. This dress was one I couldn't part ways with, and I'm so happy that I can comfortably zip it up. Size 9, baby!

Can you feel me in stereo?
Comfy outfits for a relaxing weekend.
***
This is how I looked on June 26:
t-shirt: Castaway Cay gift shop......jeans: Charlotte Russe
socks: Target.....Chuck Taylors: Footlocker
hidden belt to keep my pants from falling down: Mervyn's
Castaway Cay is Disney's private island in the Bahamas. Brian and I have been on two Disney Cruises that stopped there.
Saturday, I walked around downtown SJ for a little grocery shopping at Zanotto's and to pick up dry-cleaning. Later that day, I did more shopping at Whole Foods and I cooked three racks of babyback ribs for Brian. Yes, three racks.
***
This is how I looked today:
t-shirt: San Jose Sharks store.....skirt: NY & Co.
mini-socks: Target.....Chuck Taylors: eBay
I purchased these shoes off eBay because they're teal and they go with my Sharks jerseys. According to the box the shoes came in, the shade is officially "aqua," but it didn't match any aqua Chucks that I had seen in stores.
Brian and I visited my family, and then we had dinner at Chevy's.

every time we touch, i'm shooting the stars
I may have found a solution to my disappearing chest dilemma...
Just wear a really tight shirt.
The super-snug shirt makes it look like I still have a decent-sized bust. Kinda? Not really?
Anyway.
Why on earth did I buy a shirt that's a size or two too small? When I first purchased this shirt, I was going to use it as a layering piece under a low-cut and/or sleeveless dress. And I have worn it under dresses. I'm all about being modest.
But on the 24th, ehh, why not, I wore it as an actual top.

This is how I looked on June 22:

mini-socks: Target.....shoes: DSW
This is how I dressed down for the SJ Sharks select-a-seat that night:

I tried my hand at trying to find slightly better seats for the 2010-2011 Sharks season, but I didn't have any luck. So, we're keeping our original seats. But I had lots of fun wandering through the empty arena, trying out lots of seats.
Yep, select-a-seat = fun for me on a weeknight!

i still run this thing like a dancehall queen.
Monday is sometimes "serious outfit day." I'm coming down from Sunday, so putting some thought into Monday's outfit can be a chore.
By the way, I had a really good time this past weekend. Thank you, Rach! :)

sweater: Nordstrom.....top: Ross.....slacks: Marshalls
knee-highs: Target.....shoes: Payless
The most exciting part of today's outfit:
customised adhesive bandage: first-aid kit at work
TMI - This bandage is covering the fugly pimple on my fivehead. And covering it up was necessary because my hair kept bothering it and I couldn't stop touching it. Bleh! So, maybe it is a blessing that I'm growing out the bangs to wear it sideswept.

i lost my head when the poor wind blew
The only other time I wore this patterned skirt, I wore it with a black sweater and purple shoes.
Today, I decided to pair this skirt with a purple sweater and black shoes.

lying on a bed of roses, in a sea of broken arrows
The weather was really nice and warm, but I still wore a sweater out of habit.
sweater: Nordstrom.....tanktop: Old Navy.....jeans: Charlotte Russe
socks: Target.....shoes: PacSun
We spent most of today trying to sort out the second bedroom. We hung up pictures on the walls, and went to Office Depot to look at desks. Not very exciting, yet very productive.

if only you knew i shimmer for you
A while ago, I purchased some dresses from Tulle at their crazy insane Tulle's Day sale back on May 4. Dresses were marked down to $3.99, and it would have been easy to go overboard and buy a craptonne of items. But, no, I gave myself a limit of four.
This green and black number is my fave of the four. I can't believe this heavy 100% cotton, fully-lined dress was four-bucks. But then again, I probably wouldn't have looked at it when it was full-price at close to $60.00. I can't help my stingy ways.

It's sleeveless, so I had to wear a cardigan to make it work-appropriate.
dress: Tulle.....secret tanktop: Nordstrom Rack.....cardigan: Loehmann's
mini-socks: Payless.....Steve Madden shoes: DSW
The sweater hid the fun tie detail on the back.
I couldn't, for the life of me, tie a decent bow behind my head, so I double-knotted it.

knowing you're beside me, i'm all right
This is how I looked on June 7:
dress: Old Navy.....handbag: D&B
socks: Target.....boots: Avenue
jacket: Wilson's Leather.....scarf: H&M
This is how I looked sans jacket and scarf:
bean necklace: Tiffany & Co......emo facial expression: purely accidental
Yesterday, Brian and I walked to The Grill On The Alley in downtown San Jose for our anniversary dinner. It was a bit chilly out, so the jacket and scarf were necessary. Also, I wore these boots because I didn't feel like wearing nylons or tights.

"About Leina" - installment the fifth
Today's installment: married.
***
On Sunday, June 7, 2009, I married my best friend Brian.
He proposed on June 7, 2007, which was our 11-year dating anniversary.
Today, we celebrated our anniversary by having dinner at The Grill On The Alley in downtown SJ. Then, we went home to reluctantly eat one-year-old cake.
Happy One-Year Anniversary, Brian! I love you!

I wore a tanktop under the shirt because the shirt is flimsy.

t-shirt: a Sahara Hotnights show.....jeans: Bitten by SJP, Steve & Barry's
Fit-Flops: Downtown Disney, WDW
Back in 2008, I bought a pair of size 8 jeans at Steve & Barry's in the hopes that that would motivate me to get back in shape. Haha! Uhm no. Yeah. I think I cursed myself with those pants because I proceeded to gain more weight a week or so after purchasing them.
After going through several donation purges of my wardrobe, I still kept those pants. Even though I was disappointed in myself, I was being an optimist. Or maybe it was just my hoarding tendencies kicking in.
Back on Febuary 28 of this year, I decided to take better care of myself by eating healthy. I started keeping a paper journal to track my eating, and I started eating veggies and beans. Originally, I was someone who would only eat meat and starchy carbs. So, adding such items like Swiss chard and chickpeas to my eating routine is a really big deal.
Well. Last Friday, I tried on those pants....and they fit! I was so happy about this, I wore them again on Saturday. I am still in a state of disbelief.
Woo-hoo!

my moods, they change like the weather
I wore skirts sans tights twice this week because the weather has been cooperating (sort of).
This is how I looked on June 2:
cardigan and top: Express.....skirt: Ross
mini-socks: Payless.....Steve Madden shoes: DSW
This is how I looked on June 3:
sweater: H&M.....tanktop: Sears.....skirt: Ross
mini-socks: Payless.....shoes: Payless
Bonus picture that shows a bit more of my bookshelf:
Why yes, there's a Buffy the Vampire Slayer action figure on display.
One of the best shows EVER.

all those dancers can't be wrong
This is how I looked on Memorial Day:
tunic: Sears.....tanktop: Sears.....denim leggings: JC Penney
socks: Target.....boots: Bakers Shoes
serious facial expressions: unintentional
(I'll wear this outfit again to get a better picture of it, but I'll probably pair it with my Sarah Connor boots.)

On Memorial Day, we checked out of the hotel in Huntington Beach and drove to Oxnard to visit Brian's cousin and to check out her house. We definitely need to visit her and her husband more often!
We got home after ten o'clock that night.
